Safety Procedures & Social Distancing

Whilst I offer a personal service, teaching you to play guitar does not require close personal contact.

As we both hold instruments there is a natural distance between us as indicated by the diagram opposite.

Whilst you are allowing me into the private, safe space of your home, it is less risky than visiting a studio where you are dependent on the thoroughness of the cleaning procedures undertaken after each student visit.

So we are "naturally socially distanced" and I thoroughly sanitise my hands etc with materials I keep in my car after I leave each home.  I do not expect either of us to wear masks as effective teaching and two-way communication is significantly impaired.

So I don't have to visit my Bank payment is now required by Bank Transfer(s).

I fully comply with the ISM & Government Advice regarding Private Music Teachers visiting people's homes and completed the Health & Safety (HSE) risk assessments . Click below for more detail.

Lockdown & "Remote" Tuition

Lockdown was a catalyst for me to embrace video messaging technologies as I couldn't visit students at their home or workplace.

Face-to-face tuition is by far the most effective but I used the opportunity to keep in touch with students using "remote" technologies. I've developed a proficiency with Skype, Zoom & FaceTime so that students confined indoors could still develop their guitar skills.

I'm happy to do the "odd" session "remotely" but my operating ethos is to be out and about and not at home in front of my PC screen.
A Personal Perspective

I have always taken the threat of this virus to be a serious one. Whilst I don't have any underlying health conditions, I'm mid 60's and have rigidly adhered to the Government's latest advice.

My wife and I do not have any children, are fairly insular and not big socialisers. I rarely visit a pub and enjoy times at home with my wife and doggies. As soon as retail outlets introduced queuing I decided it was not for me and have subsequently bought everything we need on-online.

Looking at this website you have no idea of me as an individual, what standards and activities I partake in so I wanted to provide you with an insight into my lifestyle.

Allowing me into your home is a privilege that I do not take for granted and I want you to be comfortable in my presence.

Many of my students are mature/elderly so I am extra diligent in my procedures to ensure I pose a minimal risk.

I'm sure I'm a very low risk but that's a judgement you must make.
